Rainy Days…Pondering Time
It’s raining now and I’m typing this at home while listening to radio. It just seems so long that I’ve listened to radio.
Today it’s a relaxing Sunday for me.
I’ve been thinking of a lot of things recently…about how my life turned out the way I wanted it to be. It’s just so interesting and unique that a person’s life can turned out so different even if their experiences are so similar or even if they comes from the same family background.
I have met some people who related their life stories to me these few days. Some are really successful in almost every aspect of their life, earning well over 6 figures or 7 figures income. They spoken to me about what I wanted in life and also regarding building my first pot of gold.
Well, haven you ever thought of how to build your first pot of gold? If you haven’t, maybe I can share with you what I’ve learned from it.
Okay good, the rain is clearing up. =) Back to listening my radio that’s playing “Nan Ren Nu Ren” now.

Needs Physical Improvement!
Went jogging on yesterday. Really felt the tiredness from the run itself. Clocked 30 mins for a 5km run… really not at my peak… need a lot of improvement soon.
Well, owing to a busy schedule, I’ve tried to incorporate exercises whenever I can or have my free time. Though it wasn’t my ideal number of times, it’s still better than nothing. haha.
Anyway, still thinking of whether I can go for this year’s safra run or not coz of my schedule…
Also had lunch with Valerie at Vivo’s Kim Gary, food was okay coz I din expect much just that the chicken I ordered came with only a small portion of vegetables…pathetic. Then also saw Kristine, Vincent, Jasmine and Poh Soon and chatted awhile.
Later went over to get a pair of ear phones at Best Denki. Been thinking of getting it for so long already…

Some Learnings During Camp
I went to a camp organized by another financial consultancy firm, starting with the letter P.
It was held at Singapore Shopping Centre, and I didn’t even know that there is one in SG. LOL. Well, for those who don’t know where it is, it is just beside the Fish & Co. glass house at Dobhy Ghaut mrt station.
Well, it was a 1 day camp with an overnight stay and I’ve discovered many different principles that is very helpful to my life right now. It just helped me to focus much better on what I wanted in life currently.
The organisation has shared with me 5 pillars of guidelines for enhancing the way of life as well as be more successful and fulfilling in life.
What I’ve taken back from this camp is that:
- I’ve to take care of my family first
- Then take care of myself
- And take care of my organization
- Finally, to take care of my society
So essentially by following this order, I will be able to lead a more fulfilling and successful lifestyle.

FTP 1…
Today is the training for FTP 1 for the whole day. Well, it’s about the legal and compliance that as Financial Consultant, we will have to learn and understand.
For the first part of the session, it’s kind of dry with all the legal aspects of the process and how we’re supposed to do up all the paper work.
For the second part, it’s more on the compliance issues and it’s being emphasized as being more important as it will also be tested in the test after the session.
I was supposed to take the test because I’ve already completed the FTP 2 and then left only this before I can go for the BFC.
All in all, it’s just compulsory training for being a Financial Consultant that all of us went through a rigorous training and compliance regimen before becoming fully-fledged professional consultants.

Genting Trip With New Colleagues – Gambling Tips
Well, just got back yesterday from my Genting trip. Had a fun time with them especially going to the casinos. Really experience what is a casino and how people can get really ADDICTED to this vice and I mean REALLY…
It’s so plain simple and easy. I just tried the slot machines and it can immediately get so addictive because I was basically just pressing on some buttons and the stupid machine even have lights on the buttons to visually attract your attention to them. Thus making me to press them and losing faster :( hahahaha damn… machines are just money grubbers… waste my money…
Although I didn’t really try those tables but seen some of my colleagues went over to play Blackjack and stuff. Some won and some din… well, it’s just the experience that counts I guess.
But there’s one incident which I remember very vividly and that is there’s one auntie who’s playing Blackjack. Initially, she was on a winning streak and had a LOT of chips that is $500 each and she had like 3 stacks of 10 chips… that’s like $15,000!! So I watched intently on how she would exit and keep her winnings. I left for a moment to another table upon seeing that she kept winning and I thought she would keep some since her daughter came and she gave her some to keep. But when I came back about 10 minutes later, she had no more $500 chips left! I was stunned… not only that… she still pulled out thousands from her purse and exchanged for chips to play. 3 times of exchange and she’s out of money… I only gotten a glimpse that I thought she’s only left with her transport money.
WOW! Such a turn of events! Now I get the idea that people can definitely lose their fortune in casinos and no wonder it is such a bad vice…
Hmm… gamblers out there… whether you’re full-time professional or socially. There’s still a risk of running up a huge loss. Key is to know when to exit with your winnings. Only then will you be able to make money.
Always set yourself a capital to lose when you are gambling and DO NOT exceed that even if it means losing all that capital and taking a loss.
Here are some photos which were taken during my trip.

FTP 2
For the last 3 days, it was a really jam packed day. I was being feed with a huge load of info from the trainers themselves.
It was really taxing on my brain but I know that I needed to learn all these stuff very well in order to transit into my next career smoothly. Hmm… on the hindsight.. “very well” seems like an understatement. I needed to internalize all their teachings before I even meet up with my first potential client.
Now then I realized the real importance of training. (Only applicable to mental aspect and not physical aspect in this context) Training is a key element of anyone who wants improvement in their life. Knowledge is power. But I feel that to really internalize and apply the knowledge in your life then it’s really powerful.
After these 3 days, I realized that next year will be a challenging one but definitely a much more fruitful and fulfilling one than 2008. I am really looking forward to this next career in less than 3 weeks time.

Standard Charter Marathon Finisher
On sunday, just ran the ultimate race in my life again. A challenging 42.195km marathon. This is my second marathon and I ran with Jack.
Even before that night we were like still doing our work before we went to sleep. Woke up late or rather at 4am, then dilly dally a bit… almost forgotten that we need to pick up Geng Hui from West Coast :P
Realized that it was quite late when it was like 4.40am and the race is starting at 5.30am and we’re still at Jurong West… Lol.
When I sat in the car, I had the ride of my life again since the drifting experience in Malaysia. We were going at 213km/h (which is the top speed), and managed to pick up Geng Hui at 4.50am at West Coast and then reach Capitol Centre carpark by 5am and park the car.
Just nice, we went to the starting line and immediately started the race.
Beforehand, we had already strategize on how to conquer this race without much training. We thought we had one of the most hilarious strategies though. We walked for the first 5km where everyone else was like running with their full energy. We walked like this was a walkathon rather than a marathon. LOL.
I guess we were almost to the last few before we started to jog towards our mid-point GOAL – PowerGel. Because we knew by then we should be “dead” by around 20-22km…so needed that extra boost of energy. Lucky me, I’ve gotten 1 more extra powergel. Hee :p
Well, we saw that champion kenyan runner ran past us. I was comparing his leg size to my arms and I was so surprised that my arms was actually bigger than his legs… :-0
Ok… fast forward all those parts where we drank our beloved cold but diluted 100plus… that tasted so heavenly under those conditions. Saw some super cars from Ferrari at the F1 Grandstand. Think they had some opening or something. It’s quite a distraction for me instead of worrying about how to complete the run when I was reaching 39km.
Endurance and perseverance had to be the key elements that I used to complete this challenging run. But the most sucky thing is that we were planning to hit Sub-6 hours and calculated even down right to the minute. And today when we checked our timing… we were like WTH…. I clocked 6 hours and 2 secs… 2 miserably seconds and Jack gotten even worse… he gotten 6 hours 1 sec. Really blasted!
But nevertheless, I’ve improved even though I didn’t trained much for this run. So I must say I’m really blessed and fortunate. Hee.
So sometimes, with the right strategy and with some training and hard work, you can still improve on something – a skill, expertise etc.
Below are just some of the photos which I took from the official standard charter site.

PowerSeraya Colleagues
Wow! Today is a great day for me. Suddenly a sense of happiness just came over me. I was busy taking photos with me and my great colleagues. It’s really been great working with them all these while.
Remembering that when I first joined this company, I only got to know Kristine then slowly I got to know our beloved Cat (Catherine) :p then Jen Sen and Foong.
Kristine is the one who always helped me with those monthly report figures and Cat too. Although Cat also brought in some of her great home made pastries, especially her brownies. Normally, I don’t really take brownies as they’re really too sweet for me but her’s was another story. You really have to try it then you will know I’m really experiencing. : )
Jen Sen and Foong are really two jokers who sometimes loves to make fun of us whenever we were gossiping or talking bad in front of them… hahaha :P
But they’re really great colleagues and friends. We helped each other, shared food, ate lunch together, talked crap and just have fun together, although there are still the normal gossips here and there.
They’re still a lovely bunch of people who have brought another sense of fulfilment and joy to my life. Hope I have brought to them at least some joy too :p since I’m leaving soon… start of next year 2 Jan. Sad… will definitely missed their laughter.
